Osho was born in a Jain family of Madhya Pradesh. His real name was Chandra Mohan Jain. Later his devotees started addressing him by the name Osho which means ‘The Blessed One’. He was curious since childhood. He always used to question all social or religious beliefs.
He did his bachelor’s and masters in Philosophy with first-class grades. He was always good at public speaking and debating. He also won the All India Debating Champion in his college days.
Osho chose teaching as his career. For 9 years he offered his services of being a Philosophy professor at the University of Jabalpur. Apart from that he also gave speeches in different gatherings about religion and spirituality.
After teaching for 9 years, he entirely devoted his life to raise the awareness of human consciousness. He used to address gatherings of thousands of people and talked about meditation and spirituality.
He introduced his revolutionary technique of meditation which was adopted by physiotherapists and medical doctors.
In 1970, he moved to Mumbai and induced people for Neo Sannyas. Many people from India as well as America and Europe came to join Osho to seek the next step in their inner growth.
Osho spent the next 7 years in Poona Ashram. He used to give 90 minutes discourses every morning on spiritual paths which were later converted into 600 volumes in 50 different languages.
On the recommendation of his doctor, Osho went to the US for surgery. For the next three years, Guru travelled worldwide and then continued his public discourses. He also introduced his new technique of meditation called The Mystic Rose.
